Introduction

Safeskies Australia was created in 1992 and is a not for profit organisation, governed by an Executive Board, who perform their duties entirely on a voluntary basis.

Whilst best known for the Safeskies biennial conferences, Safeskies Australia has a much broader on-going role as an informal safety forum for professionals in all sectors of the aviation industry.

Safeskies has become widely recognised as a body that cultivates and facilitates exchanges of information and opinion, assists in developing relationships and encourages dialogue on an informal and confidential basis between commercial and government sectors involved in aviation today. Because of its very broad non-partisan industry involvement, it has often been able to form balanced and independent perspectives that have assisted and resulted in the resolution of issues.

Recognition of the important role Safeskies Australia plays within the aviation sector is demonstrated by the considerable support both financially and in kind it, receives from commercial, professional, government and military aviation organisations who, through their support, in turn demonstrate their commitment as "investors in aviation safety".
