This prize is awarded to a young biomedical engineer based upon their paper presentation at the EPSM-ABEC 2009 Conference.
The Engineers Australia Young Biomedical Engineer's Award is to be presented to a student whose studies are leading to an engineering qualification in a field related to biomedical engineering, or an engineer who is either a biomedical engineer or in the process of satisfying entrance to the College of Biomedical Engineers. The work being considered for the award must be the person's own work.
The recipient must be 35 years of age or younger at the time of the conference.
Applicants must indicate that they wish to be considered for the award at the time of submission of a one-page abstract (as detailed in the Call for Papers).
Only papers being presented orally will be considered for the Award (i.e no posters).
The abstracts will be considered by a panel of referees nominated by the College of Biomedical Engineers for inclusion in a session in the conference specifically for presentations by the short-listed applicants. Abstracts which the jury decides are not to be considered for the Award will be considered for presentation during a general session of the Conference.
The recipient of the Award will be decided by the referees, who will attend the oral paper presentations. Assessment of the abstract and oral presentation will be based on consideration of the following areas:
1. Technical content
